Construction Zone Awareness

February 22, 2008

The company making the improvements at the elementary school began work at HES on March 10.  We anticipate that our front doors will be closed after spring break.  We will continue to use our front doors and present procedure until the construction company closes our front doors.  Details about the changes this will create are listed in the following paragraphs.

First and foremost will be the changing of our front door.  There will be no entrance or exit from our traditional front doors, this area will be under construction.  All students, visitors, parents, and vendors will have to come to the doors on the west side of the building.  Only the southern set of doors on the west will be unlocked during the day.  All

visitors need to report to the office as usual.

Due to this change the alley on the west has been made “one way” only, to the North.  Parents can either drop their children off in the circular drive in the morning or in the alley.  There will be a designated drop off area in the alley west of the entrance.  Busses will be unloading in the morning in the circular drive.  From 8:00 to 8:30 cars will not be allowed to park in the circular drive.    Busses will continue to use the circular drive at the end of the day to load students up for the ride home.  Please do not park in this area after 3:00!

Students will be told not to use the west alley when coming from or going home from school due to the increased traffic.  There will be speed bumps placed in the alley to discourage unsafe speeds.

As we get used to the changes the construction will create at the elementary school we will let you know!
