Trojan football team in a huddle before a play

The Hillsboro Trojans start the year off with a narrow win against the Haven Wildcats! It was a close game with a final score of 40-38. Dawson Boldt (QB) had a solid performance throwing for 327 passing yards and 4 touchdowns.

Head football coach Demetrius Cox had some words to say about the week 1 victory.

“Great team win!!! All the guys did an amazing job. I want to take a moment to reflect on our performance and give some words of encouragement.

Firstly, remember that every game is an opportunity to grow and learn. Even though we faced some challenges on Friday, it’s important that the team stays positive and uses this experience as a stepping stone towards improvement.

Let’s focus on analyzing our mistakes and identifying areas where we can make adjustments. This is how we become stronger as a team.

It’s great for players to remember, mistakes happen to everyone, but what matters is how we respond to them. My hope is that we use our mistakes as motivation to push ourselves even harder at practice and ensure we’re fully prepared for the next game.

Week one is in the books, it’s important that our guys keep their heads up, stay confident, and come back stronger versus Nickerson.”
