The Lady Trojans posed up for a picture after beating Smokey Valley in two sets.

The Hillsboro Lady Trojans volleyball team has started off the season strong. After losing some key players and making big adjustments, the Lady Trojans got third at the season opening CKL Tournament. Week four the volleyball team competed against Smoky Valley and won the first set 25-17 and second set 25-17 after losing against them last tournament.

Head Coach Sandy Arnold had some words about the CKL Tournament and after defeating Smoky Valley.

“I think we all learned very quickly at the CKL Tournament that our league is going to be very good this year.  I knew it was going to take some time for the new players and the players in new positions to gel and gain experience.  So, on that note, I was fairly pleased with our first tournament.  The other really good part about that tournament is that we really get a chance to see what areas need strengthened.  And then that sets the tone for our practices” Arnold said.

“I think as a whole, our team was probably more disappointed in the Southeast of Saline Tourney than any other playing date so far.  We knew we had beaten Smoky once and knew we could do it, but we just weren't clicking.  So, I was a little nervous having to turn around and play them again the  next Tuesday.  The girls, however, did a great job of adjusting on our defense.  We were also very aggressive in both our serving and our attacking.  These things were key to our success and I was very proud of the girls for the way they learned from Saturday and used it to better their game on Tuesday” Arnold said.
