Baseball and Bat

Pitching practice has been going on for a couple weeks on Thursdays at 6 AM, but now full practice has officially started!

Did you know that the Hillsboro baseball team is the only Hillsboro team that competes in 3a? The baseball team splits with Peabody-Burns to have enough for a full team which moves us up a class size. This year's team consists of 14 Hillsboro players and 8 Peabody players. We have a total of 22 players which is 8 more players than we had last year. This year’s Freshman class looks very promising with a total of 10 Freshman who all have solid experience on the field. The team has 4 Seniors this year who are all from Hillsboro. The Seniors are Dallas Whorton, Logan Frantz, Dawson Boldt, and Zander Haslett. All of our Seniors this year are returning letter winners who are excited for a fresh start this season. The season starts with a doubleheader at Hesston on March 26th. The first game will start at 4:00 and the second at 6:00. Head coach Daniel Moss is excited to start the year as it is his second year coaching. Coach Richstatter from Peabody will also be returning to coach as he has done for multiple years. The team has also hired a new coach who has lots of baseball experience! Hunter Hein will be the third coach this year who played baseball for Hillsboro and went on to play at Tabor College. The coaching staff is very experienced in baseball and will continue to help develop the program and create good ballplayers. Dawson Boldt, who won 2nd Team All-League for CKL last year can attest to the hard work that has been put in so far. He says, “The team has been working very hard at practice and has been focused on improving from last year.” We are excited for the season to start and hope that people can make it to the field to watch us play.
