The girls' volleyball team placed third this weekend at the Class 2A state championships. Competition began on Friday. Trojans beat Humboldt in two matches, 25-13 and 25-16, to start the competition. They then faced Ellinwood and lost in two matches, 25-17 and 25-20. The Trojans then played Rossville in an entertaining game, winning in three, 25-20, 15-25, and 26-24. Their 2-1 record in pool play advanced them to Saturday's finals. The Trojans began their second day facing off against Valley Heights. They unfortunately lost in two, 25-21 and 25-18. With this loss, they then played in the third-place game against Jefferson County North. They won the game in two, 25-16 and 25-14, to secure third place.
This third-place finish is the 12th trophy the Trojans have won in the state championships.
