Governor Kelly’s stay-at-home order classifies schools as an “essential business.” We will still provide meals and proceed with our continuous learning plan. Families can still come to Hillsboro Elementary School, the Durham Baptist Church, and the Lehigh City Building to get meals. You can utilize our wireless internet service by parking near any of our school buildings, but please stay in your vehicles. Max Heinrichs Superintendent USD 410

We’ve had a great response with our “Feed the Trojans” curbside meal pick-up! Thank you all for your patience as we figured it out! Unfortunately, we need to make a little change with the adult meals. Beginning Monday, March 30, we will only serve meals to children, ages 1 – 18. We know that there is a need for adult meals, that was evident with the number of meals we served, but we need to concentrate on serving meals to children. If you are in need of food assistance for adult meals, please contact Families and Communities Together at 620-947-3184, Option #5 or contact the Hillsboro Ministerial Alliance at 620-947-3824.

Locker Pick-Up. If you just want to send your kids that is fine. Parents do not have to be present to get their things.

HILLSBORO SCHOOL BUILDINGS CLOSED FOR REMAINDER OF SCHOOL YEAR Yesterday, Kansas Governor Laura Kelly announced the closure of all K-12 schools in the state for the remainder of the school year. The closure order is effective immediately and follows consultation with Kansas education officials. As a result, Hillsboro Public School buildings will be closed through May 19, 2020. All KSHSAA spring activities are canceled. The district continues to discuss options for providing essential services, such as serving school meals and supporting continuous learning. We will begin offering grab-and-go breakfast and lunch driver thru service at Hillsboro Elementary School, Durham Baptist Church and Lehigh City Building sites on Monday, March 23. The district will gather administrators this week to discuss these latest developments. Building administrators will meet with school staff next week. We anticipate implementing a plan for continuous learning for students beginning March 30. Additional information will be shared with staff and families as soon as decisions are made. Per the Governor's order, this closure is intended to support social distancing and restrict personal contact. Individuals are encouraged to avoid gatherings larger than ten people. The superintendent urges staff and families to heed this order. We will continue to inform staff and families of updates as decisions are made and additional information becomes available.

Free Breakfast and Lunch Information – Beginning on Monday, March 23 from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., Durham-Hillsboro-Lehigh, USD 410, will serve grab-and-go lunches with a breakfast for the next day at the locations listed below at no cost for any child ages 1-18 regardless of whether they are free, reduced or full pay and regardless of if they attend USD 410 schools. Hillsboro Elementary School Lehigh City Building Durham Baptist Church We are planning on a curbside pickup in an effort to reduce social contact but any child wishing to receive a meal will need to be present per federal regulations. In order to prepare for the feeding sites, it would help us to know how many meals to prepare. If you are interested in participating in curbside pickup, please email us at foodservice@usd410.net with the number of children meals and breakfasts you will need for Monday, March 23. An email like the example below would be very helpful: Bob, Susie, Billy and Mom – 3 child lunches and 1 adult lunch and 3 child breakfasts – will pick up at the Durham site. If you are interested in helping, please email us at foodservice@usd410.net We are gathering our staff to prepare and distribute the meals. If we find we need additional help, we will certainly reach out! We will update if there are any changes. Please be patient with staff when picking up meals, as we will do our best to get people in and out as quickly as possible.

Just a few minutes ago, Governor Kelly announced she would be closing Kansas school buildings for the remainder of the school year. The Kansas State Department of Education and a core group of educators from across the state have developed an education plan to help with continued learning of your children for the remainder of the school year. Things to remember concerning the next two weeks, March 23 – 27, and March 30 – April 3, 2020 • There will be no school the week of March 23 – 27, 2020. • Administrators and teaching staff will be working on an education plan next week (March 23 – 27, 2020) for the remainder of the school year. • More information will be provided as it becomes available. • Education services will resume on Monday, March 30, 2020, and may include one or more of the following delivery methods: educational packets, online assignments, small group (10 or less) face-to-face meetings with teacher. Sincerely, Max Heinrichs Superintendent USD 410
